One Year of EBRI: From a New Beginning to a Strong Foundation

On 1 October 2025, EB Research Institute became operational. Twelve months later, the organization looks back on a year defined by momentum, collaboration and a shared commitment to building something new.

Starting an organization from the ground up means putting many pieces in place at the same time. Over the past year, EBRI has established its structures and ways of working, shaped its scientific strategy and portfolio, and continued to develop the Biobank and key research platforms. At the same time, the research programs have gained momentum, new collaborations and partnerships have been initiated, and preparations for the organization’s next phase of growth are underway.

Yet these achievements are about more than structures, programs and platforms. They are about the people who have made them possible.
Many members of the team have been with EBRI from the very beginning. Together, they have turned ideas into structures, developed approaches along the way and created the foundations for a research organization with a clear translational focus.
This process has required openness to new ideas, flexibility when plans evolved, patience when building takes time, and constructive discussions about the direction to take. Most importantly, it has required a team willing to shape EBRI together.

The first year has also opened the door to what comes next. New scientific opportunities are emerging, exciting projects and collaborations are taking shape, and important steps lie ahead as EB research Institute continues to expand its research activities and strengthen its role as a translational research organization.

The first anniversary is therefore more than a moment to look back. It is a chance to appreciate what has been accomplished in just twelve months — and to recognize the strong foundation that the team has created together.
One year on, the next chapter is already taking shape.
